Civil Carpenter & Landscape Labourer/Carpenter

Your Day-to-Day - Civil Carpenter:

A drainage civil carpenter spends their day building the structures that make underground services work. They set out and construct formwork for manholes, chambers, headwalls, culverts, sumps, and catch pits, including the detailed elements like corbels, pipe penetrations, step‑outs, and internal transitions. Their work includes preparing and boxing concrete surrounds, aprons, thrust blocks, and benches, then stripping and finishing these structures to spec.

On site, they work closely with the drainage crew—helping prepare trenches, aligning structures to invert levels, supporting pipe installations, and ensuring everything is built accurately and safely. It’s a hands‑on role where carpentry skill meets civil construction. The work includes moving materials, keeping the site tidy and safe, setting up barriers and signage, and jumping in wherever the crew needs an extra set of capable hands. It’s a practical, physical role that keeps the job moving and the team productive.

Your Day-to-Day - Landscape Labourer/Carpenter:

A landscape labourer/carpenter in our General Contracting team spends their days shaping outdoor spaces and delivering small residential projects from the ground up. The work ranges from building retaining walls, decks, steps, garden structures, and hardscaping features, to hands‑on landscaping tasks like planting, mulching, levelling, and site clean‑ups. You’ll help construct paths, edging, concrete pads, and outdoor living areas, assist with tree felling and removals, and support the crew with digging, setting out, and basic carpentry.

If you can operate machinery — loaders, diggers, skid steers, or even small plant — that’s a real advantage and you’ll use those skills to speed up site prep, trenching, and material handling. It’s a varied, physical role where you’re building, shaping, and improving residential sites, with no two days looking the same.
