Coneburn/Parkridge Subdivision - stage 1

Queenstown

Category: Earthworks

The Coneburn Residential Development (now known as Park Ridge) is a new subdivision still under development with potential for up to 650 lots to the north of the Jacks Point/Hanley's Farm residential areas.

The contract was for the earthworks portion of Stage 1. Works included heavy environmental controls and bulk earthworks.

Challenges:
Traffic Management: Strict traffic management had to be in place to protect both road users and the team while fill was carted from Quarry Rd adjacent to the subdivision. This required the dump trucks to cross SH6. A combination of Stop/Go and traffic lights system was used.

Health and Safety: No significant health and safety incidents occurred during construction.
Robust H&S procedures ensured any near misses or minor incidents were captured, actioned and reported on quickly and efficiently.

Environmental: Dust and sediment control were risks that had to consistently monitored and managed throughout construction.
Sediment Control – Sediment was controlled onsite using SRP’s and water channels.
Dust Control – Dust control was a major issue during the drier months but was effectively managed using an onsite watercart and rubble loc when appropriate.
